CoDiME

Yes, the project is finished... And that's really sad, because I'm already missing everyone!!! It was really nice to get to know all those people and now you know that it's gonna be difficult to see them again... But I hope everyone got home well and that they sometimes think again at this wonderfull time in Belgium. And when someone wants to come again, just tell me!!!

Thursday 24th April
The last day of the project... We started with an evaluation of the project: what we liked, and what could be better. After that, the Netherlands had to cook. They made delicious pancakes, although not everyone thougt like that... It was a pitty that there were people who made their own food... I think it was a bit impolite to the Dutch girls... But, we liked it!!
After the lunch we had to make a paper about the project. For us, the Belgian students, we had to make an plan of 10 steps about diversity and how we coped wit it in this project, and how we can cope with it in our classes.
After making the paper we went to the campus for the last time, where we had an delicious meal, and afterwards there was the Black and White party. It was such a good party!!! Everybody enjoyed it, and even the older ones were dancing!!! It was a really nice ending of the project!
But we also had to say goodbye to eachoter at the party... Sometimes that was really difficult!! I hope I can see some of them back, sometime...

The pancakes from the students from the Netherlands. Hmmm!!! Delicious!

CoDiME

Wednesday 23th April
This morning we went again to our school, for the reflection of the project. The children had to tell what they did in the families, and we had some pictures with us. The children had to choose 1 picture and tell why they had chosen that picture. After that the children made a wall of the pictures, the picture which they liked the most was the start of the wall, the picture they didn't like that much was the last one.
This afternoon we have a session from Turkey and the Netherlands, I'm curious what that will be.
This evening we have cooking and animation from Turkey. Hopefully it will be as nice as the other countries.

Evaluation of the project in Mozaïek

Tuesday 22th April
In the morning we had to prepar the evalution for tomorrow. We had to choose 12 pictures, which was difficult, and we had to tell why we chosen that one. Tomorrow in the schools, the children have to do the same thing.
In the afternoon we were free, so we went to shop, and after that we enjoyed the good wether.
The cooking and animation was hosted by Portugal. I really liked the food. It was really good! I could just go on and on eating it, so the desert was to much... It were 2 face beans, with fish and some salades. It was delicious! When we were eating we heard the typical Portuguees music from Fado.

Monday 23th April
In the morning we had an very interesting session from Portugal. We had to describe someone of the group who I find the most different from me. And after we did this practice, we had the theory from Theresa, who did some reasearch about it. It was really interesting!
At noon we had to visit the families. I went with Sabrina from the Netherlands, and Ozzy and TJ to the house of Wout. We made a very beautiful door, and the mother of Wout made some pancakes for us. It was really nice!!!
The evening was hosted by Lithuania. The food was very good, with a lot of garlic in it. We had a litte quiz about Lithuania and then we all recived a pen and a proove that we know Lithuania very well.
We also danced some typical Lithuanian dances, it was realy nice, but maybe a bit short. I'd like to do that again.

Sunday 22th April
Today we went to the ABC-house in Brussels. It's a house where you can do some artistic things. There a workshops which you can follow, and it's specially for children. We tried to do a lot of things and it's something I really want to go there if I have a own class.
After visiting ABC we had some spare time to visit Brussels, but after that we had to leave...

This is the corner for the children...

Saturday 21th April
In the morning we had to be at Heidepark to do some reflection about the project. The big conclusion is, I think, that everybody likes the project a lot and that we all learned a lot about eachother. It's really nice to get to know eachother and the different countries!
The students went to Brugge or Antwerp, but we couldn't join them, but I hope they enjoyed it!

CoDiME

Friday 18th April
Today in the morning, we had to visit our own schools, so we couldn't join the session about music therapy from Spain, but I've heard from the other students that it was a nice thing to do.
In the afternoon we had to go to Mozaïek, a primary school. We went there with 2 students from the Netherlands and the three students from Turkey. In the beginning the children were very shy, but after a while they got really enthousiastic. The students from the Netherlands and Turkey have present their country to the children, and after the break we've played a game with the children. We played what we call in Belgium 'Zakdoekje leggen', and we song the Turkisch song. The first part of the song was easy, but we couldn't manage to remember and to sing the rest of the song.
The children are really enthousiastic to go to the families! So we are curious to go there on Monday...

Pictures from this: see later

Thursdag 17th April
Today the students came to our campus, so we showed them the 'mediatheek', where they could go on the computer to check there mail or to leave a message for home.
At noon we ate a typical Belgium lunch at the campus and after the lunch we went with some students to the shopping center. Some students bought something, other people just went there to see the shopping center. Afterwards we went back to the campus to have a session from Marianne about 'het muzische'. We had to write a note for someone of the group, we had to tell a story in our own language to the other students... I think it was very nice.
In the evening we had dinner and animation hosted by Italy. They made risotto for us, and also a pasta with pesto, and it was the birthday of Eva, so she went to the bakery to get us some cakes.
So, the first evening in Heidepark was really nice.

CoDiME dag 1 - dag 3

Wednesday 16th April
Also today we had breakfast at the Youth Hostel. Afterwards we went to the "Centrale" where Marc Colpaert had an interesting presentation about diversity. We had our meal, paella, also at the centrale, and afterwards we went to the campus in Ghent where Lithuania, Portugal, Italy and we talked about our education system. After that we went home. Tomorow the students wil visit for the first time our campus, and some of them are already going to visit a school.
Hopefully the students will also like their stay in Waasmunster.

Tuesday 15th April
This day began with a breakfast at the youth hostel. After that we came again tot the campus and we had some interesting exchanges about the educating systems in the Neterhlands, Spain and Turkey. After this session we had a quick meal and then we went to the 'Vrijdagsmarkt' for a visit to Ghent. This actually was an example of how you better not cope with diversity. The beginning of the visit was kind of stereotype... But we also visited some interesting places in Ghent.
In the evening we had a delicious mail at a Turkisch restaurant.
To close the day, we went to the 'Limonada', a cocktail bar with some students from Spain, Italy, Lithuania and the Netherlands. It was very nice and we really got to know eachother better, so we're really enjoying this project.

The presentation of the Netherlands

Monday 14th April
We've taken the train at 8.22 to Ghent. After a trip by tram, we arrived at the youth hostel, where Ruth, Anke and a litte bit of the exchange students were. We had to leave at 9.30, but some students don't have he habbit to come on time. So with a bit delay, we went to the campus in Ghent where we got to know eachother in a 'muzische' way. Afterwards we had a drink and the general directro of the schoool gave a presentation about this school.
At noon we had a meal at the campus, aftwerwards there was a market of the different countries. Every country had some specific things with them, so we could taste 'drop', 'orange bitter', chees, some specific cake from Portugal... We also saw the specific clothes from Lithuania and Portugal.
We took the evening meal at the youth hostel. We made 'smos' for the exchange students, and after that, we had prepared an evening animation. This was a 'Swing Palace', where the group had to split up in 2, and we've sang a lot. Group 1 had a captain, Steve, group 2 had Youri as captain, and after an excititng battle, Steve's group has won.
We hadve visited 2 pubs in Ghent with some girls from the Netherlands, and then we went to bed.

CoDiME

I love the nineties
